2012 Men’s Holiday Gift Guide: Part Two

21 Nov

Christmas is right around the corner, and if you’re like me you’ve probably already been stressing about what to get your significant other.

While I may have to ask elsewhere, if you’re trying to get ideas for what to buy a man, you’ve definitely come to the right place.

One important thing to remember is that men mostly want things they can use.

Sure, we may need some new dress slacks, and if your guy is in dire need, this could be a good gift idea.

But today, we’re going to focus on the stuff guys want.

This is going to be a long, thorough list, so we’re breaking it up into three parts. You can find Part One here.

We’re getting opinions from all kinds of different men, so you’ll be sure to find something perfect for your other half.

The Sports Lover

NBA 2K13

Technically, this could also go in the Technology Lover category, but make no mistake; this game is for the sports lover. With the NBA season just now revving up, there is no better time to buy this for him. You’re looking at the most faithful re-creation of the sport ever produced, and if he is any type of NBA fan, or a sports fan period, he will love this game. It has received glowing reviews, and you’ll receive glowing reviews from your man if he opens this up on Christmas morning.

Sports Illustrated (1-year auto-renewal)

Every sports fan loves reading about sports, and Sports Illustrated has been the staple in sports journalism for 60 years. You can’t go wrong by buying him a subscription. And if he already has one, buy the renewal, because I guarantee he will want it renewed.

NFL Cleveland Browns Portable Party Refrigerator

Alright, I admit it. I’m a Brown’s fan.

But you can find party fridges for any sports team, and it would be a great gift for any man that loves to get to the game 6 hours early, grill out with his friends, and have a few cold ones. To search for your team, just click through the link above, and enter your team’s name along with the portable party fridge tag at the end. Your boy will love you for this.

ESPN 30 for 30 Collector’s Set Blu Ray [Blu-ray]

To celebrate their 30th Anniversary, ESPN recruited some of today’s most influential film directors to document 30 of the absolute best stories sports has to offer. Every film is fantastic, and delves deep into the personal side of sports that few rarely see. I’ll go out on a limb and say this is something you and your man can watch together. It’s that good.

DirecTV Sports Subscription

What’s better than actually being at the game?

How about having access to every single one?

DirecTV has the absolute quintessential sports lineup. From NFL Sunday Ticket, NBA League Pass, MLB Extra Innings, ESPN Gameplan, all the way to NASCAR Hot Pass, DirecTV has it covered.

The Car Lover

Forza Horizon

If you’re noticing a trend of video games being displayed in these categories, don’t worry. Most car enthusiasts don’t have the means to get behind the wheel of their dream cars, but Forza Horizon allows them to. While this entry in the Forza series has toned down the simulation elements in exchange for a more pure racing experience, it’s still as close to the real thing as he’s likely to get.

Top Gear Seasons

Chances are, if you’re dating or married to a car enthusiast, you already know about Top Gear.

If you don’t, know that this is THE automotive show. Buy him a couple seasons or so, and he’ll be in RPM heaven (just check to make sure he doesn’t already have every season).

WeatherTech Floor Mats

Men that love cars, really love for their cars to be clean. WeatherTech’s custom fitting rubber floor mats will make cleaning out his floorboards quick and easy, and they look pretty sweet too. Just remember to get the make, model, and year of his car or truck and do a search on Amazon to ensure you get the right fit.

Hoover L2310 GUV 10 Amp 5-Gallon Garage Utility Vacuum

Speaking of clean cars, this vacuum will allow him to keep his car dirt free. It’s industrially rated, so you’re getting the same power you get at your local car wash, only you won’t have to feed this one quarters. This will be a great addition to his garage.

- Bend Pak Portable Mid-Rise Scissor Lift – 6000-Lb. Capacity, Model# MD-6XP

Every car lover enjoys working on their vehicle. But nobody likes lying on their back against the cold concrete with their nose three inches from the bottom of the car. That’s where this comes in handy. It’s a bit pricey, but if you can stomach the cost, you’re guaranteed to make this the best Christmas ever for your man. Plus, with all of these new tools, maybe he’ll offer to clean and service your car from now on?

That does it for the second part of our Men’s Holiday Gift Guide. Check back on Friday, November 23rd for our final installment, where we take a look at Men’s Fashion, Men’s Accessories, and The Man Cave.

Chemical car wash, also known as waterless car wash, uses chemicals to wash and polish car surface. Thought to have originated in Australia and claims to be an eco-friendly car wash method.`

    All the best to you
